Coach: All right, Kevin. I’m excited to get this going. I know you’ve had a couple closings. Is it okay that I share your story with other people?

Kevin: Yes, it is.

Coach: Did Real Estate Sales and your coach live up to the expectations you were looking for?

Kevin: Yeah, I do think it did. I wasn’t sure what to expect at first, but walking through the steps of how to start off and creating a business was a good learning experience. You stepped me through the whole process of talking with property owners, getting the direct mail created and the list — I had no idea where to get started. Once I sent out the letters, I got calls pretty quick and was really surprised.

Coach: How important are the leads you got from us to your success?

Kevin: Oh, definitely very important. I don’t know where else I would have started without those lists. I don’t know if I would have been able to find those leads on my own.

Coach: Do you feel having a mentor has been helpful?

Kevin: Oh yeah, definitely. The mentor has been very helpful — telling me who I need to talk to, title companies, who to get involved with for deals. It’s been a good thing to have someone who has been through it and knows what needs to be done in certain situations.

Coach: How long after you mailed your first batch did you write your first contract?

Kevin: Just a couple weeks. I was getting calls within a few days. First contract, no more than two weeks.

Coach: How confident were you on your first phone call?

Kevin: I was very nervous. I’m quiet, I don’t go out and do this sort of thing. But the more I do it, the more I talk to people, it’s gotten a lot easier.

Coach: You’ve had three sales. Where did you find your cash buyers?

Kevin: From Craigslist marketing.

Coach: What do you do for your full-time career?

Kevin: I’m a system admin at a company that develops software for credit unions. Servers, virus protection, SQL databases — nothing even close to real estate.

Coach: How many hours a week do you work on this?

Kevin: Probably a good 10 hours a week. I try to do a lot on the weekend. If I didn’t have a full-time job, it could definitely keep me busy.

Coach: Would you recommend Real Estate Sales to a friend or family member?

Kevin: Oh yeah, definitely.

Coach: Do you believe anybody could do this?

Kevin: Oh yeah. I’ve never done any real estate investing, and I’m not one that likes to talk to people on the phone — and it’s definitely something anybody could do.

Coach: What’s the most difficult part?

Kevin: At the beginning, just getting the networking going, finding the buyers. Getting calls and talking to sellers is pretty easy. But building your buyer list was the difficult part.

Coach: What’s the most enjoyable?

Kevin: Definitely being able to solve the problem for the seller, getting rid of that property for them and making money. It feels good. It’s the chase and the hunt.

Coach: Anything you’d tell somebody thinking about working with us?

Kevin: Anybody interested — working with y’all has been really enjoyable. Everybody has been really helpful and taught me a whole lot about real estate. Once you get started and get your first deal, you can see that this can happen over and over and over.
